Visiting Your Beach Villa? This Is Your Summer’s Coastal Chic Style Guide

The beach is the place to be. It’s the summer season and whether you’re beach-bumming it up on the sand or catching up with the girls at a water-side brunch, your closet needs some coastal chic pieces. We’ve got you covered. Stylists from Most Wanted have come through with your go-to fabrics, colors, and silhouettes to accompany what we think will be your favorite summer belts and bags from our collection.

1) Pearled Buckle Chevron Belt

We’ve chosen the Opposites Attract Midi sundress by Stitch and Feather as a the winning piece to pair with the Pearl Buckle Chevron Stretch belt. Any Ivory, Beige, Taupe, and Whites you have in your closet should be in your beach house suitcase in June, along with a chic statement accessory and even a matching bag if you’re feeling glamourous. There’s always been an appeal to breathable fabrics in the summer, and with a raffia stretch belt that cinches your waist, the airy garments you frequent these next few months are in high demand. Tan and natural colored accents are a must have if you’re going for the summer ‘24 quiet luxury trend that screams coastal opulence. So no matter what dress you choose, there’s no better way to say “Coastal Chic” then with hints of gold or pearl jewelry that pop amongst the natural tones in your closet and match whatever handbag you choose to take to dinner on the pier. We recommend a sparkly woven rope tote or Seashell Accent Raffia Clutch, which can be paired with any linen top and one layer cotton maxi skirt. Don’t be afraid to use whatever other pearls, shells, or crochet in your beachy hairstyle or apparel to really take your light colored sundress over the top!

2) The Seashell Waist Chain

Brunches, dinners, and shopping sprees on Main Street are all well and good but it’s hard to be a beach girl without touching the sand or dipping your toes in the ocean. For the coast-inclined babes looking for a playful aesthetic, we recommend a Cowrie Seashell Waist Belt. Any kind, even rainbow! This kind of on-the-nose accessory, especially when paired with a bandeau top, light colored short, and an oversized button-up looks posh on the sand or on the deck. You can also layer it with other woven belts on a maxi skirt with a fitted top, or a set like this one from Revolve. When you have your woven shell waist wrap, we recommend a coordinating bag, preferably something crochet or pattered, like this Triangular Woven Tote, to add texture to the outfit. This is also the perfect opportunity to base your look around that cowry shell necklace we know you wear almost everyday, like this one from Lotus and Luna. And if you want to sport that with just your waist belt and bikini, then we guarantee you’ll still make splashing in the waves look like an editorial cover shoot.

3) A Floral Rhinestone Waist Chain

I know. Pearls and rhinestones? WAY over the top for an easy day in a beach town. But hear me out: Glam doesn’t have to be the whole outfit and it doesn’t have to look too try hard, even in a place where most people are half dressed. With a subtle piece like the Floral Rhinestone Waist Chain, you’re guaranteed a second glance by passerbys who catch your small sparkle from the corner of their eye, without looking like the boardwalk’s resident disco ball. The dainty design and small size make it a perfect match for any linen set or pastel colored maxi dress you want to wear to dinner, as well as the printed sarong you plan to pair with your monochrome bikini during the day. For example, ASOS’ drop waist gathered bust dress in baby pink is exactly the kind of laidback attention grabber with ample space for a low waist belt chain. Pair that combo with the Floral Pearl Satin Case and you’re golden. The handbag can stay inside when you’re out by the waves but it elevates your chic to a new level at an event, and since the pearl embellishment is so minimalistic, you’re giving effortless elegance in the best way. Pink not your color? That’s why any of your other summer staples like Stitch and Feather’s Maldives set were made for clean femininity, so that you can get the same monochromatic matching element to a different toned ensemble.

4) The Gilded Light Leathers

While 80 degree heat and leather aren’t usually a match made in heaven, light colored leather with any gilded statement buckle or embellishment is going to define the resort season of 2024. Your best bet for a belt you can carry into June from your autumn/winter collection is something like the Skinny Rhinestone Buckle belt or Metal Strap Holders piece. But if you’re looking for a piece specifically meant for resort that looks like you bought it ahead of everyone else’s schedule, you may need to style the Seashell Buckle belt. Either way, the best way to pull off a thicker fabric accessory in a summer color is to French tuck an airy linen or rayon short sleeve button up with a high waisted palazzo pant or short, preferably pleated. Take something resembling the Nadal Top from Brochu Walker and use any of the styles below in a beige, tan, taupe, or camel to weave through pants resembling Thread and Seed’s Maud Linen set. If a matching crop top is more your speed, you can still go for laidback and posh by tying your favorite cashmere sweater over that or a light baby T. Then, coordinate the belt to a day bag with similar material like Woven Crossbody Basket bag, the woven crochet tote with leather strap, or the Woven Basket Tote with leather trim. Add some rhinestone or gold accent jewelry, ideally thin, long earrings or a dainty necklace and thin bangle bracelets. Remember in the summer, unless the belt is the centerpiece of the outfit, the skinnier the length, the better, but you can never go wrong with a unique statement buckle, no matter what season it is.

5) Boho Coastal Sunflower Concho

For every Cali resort woman, there’s her counterpart boho girly, sketching by the water or shopping at the boardwalk flea market. For the free-spirited coast girl, we recommend conchos, bronze, and anything crochet. Your MUST HAVE belt is the Sunflower Floral Concho Chain, a bronze toned chain belt that brightens any outfit, reflects the sunny personality of its wearer, and reigns in the most compliments. When paired with a matching set of layered necklaces like the one pictured from Peddler Girls Jewelry, you can choose to get even more creative or simply wear all white and still look on-trend. Either way, these kinds of boho style beach belts are most flattering on a handkerchief maxi skirt, especially Free People’s Clover Skirt. For a simpler look, the white maxi with a matching airy top like Ediketed’s front tie sheer knit is a guarenteed success. You can wear it exploring the scene or on the sand over a banana yellow bathing suit. To take it one step further, you can’t go wrong with a matching bandana with a coquette print and lace trim. To turn heads even more, pair the sunflower concho and handkerchief skirt with a crochet top, preferably a patterned halter with warm tones to emphasize the bronze, like this 12th Tribe crop top. If you want to be even bolder, go for a neutral toned pattered slit skirt in maroon or blush along with a fringe bandeau. Your best bet for more accessories are a pair of gold hoops, miscellaneous rings, or that classic cowry necklace. Finally, you must top off the look with a crochet bag! A basic and beautiful staple piece is something like the Most Wanted Crochet Mini Backpack, but what matches all too perfectly is the Yellow Daisy Crochet Shoulder Bag.Whichever aesthetically pleasing journey the wind blows you towards, you and whatever cage woven lace up sandals your wearing are bound to look breathtaking as you reconnect with nature and take some time for self care this summer.
